Walking

Elizabeth St.jpg

To the woman who
ran across Elizabeth Street in
streaming rain with high
heeled shoes staccatoing
like chopsticks, and
a mobile phone ear-ringing, though
clamped,
the taxi you hailed
seemed bound to you,
interdependent forces converging
in lipstick smeared
wormholes of decelerating
motion. Here we
pass,
miscued in reverberating
tableaux of
traffic, weather
conditions, feminine
wiles,
walking
